Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the most common questions we receive about our services.

If we don't answer your question here, please contact us to find out the answer!

Q. Do you offer etching for single items?

A. Yes! We are happy to help you turn your item into a one-of-a-kind gift.

Q. What materials can you etch?

A. We can etch a variety of materials such as wood, glass, acrylic, certain types of stone, marble, and coated metals such as powder-coated metals, anodized aluminum, enameled brass and more. Give us a call if you have an item not listed here.

Q. Can i bring my own items in to be etched?

A. Yes, however, we reserve the right to limit what we can or will etch. We need to understand what the material is that we will be etching. Certain plastics can emit highly poisonous and/or corrosive gas when vaporized by the laser. If the material cannot be identified, we will not allow it to be etched using our machines

Q. Is there a size limitation to what can be etched?

A. Yes. The maximum size for flat surfaced items is 12"x24"x5.5". Items larger than this will not fit into our etching machine.

Q. How are your services priced?

A. We charge a setup fee for the project, which is a single charge for the project regardless of how many items are being engraved and for the actual time our laser is running to engrave your item(s). If there is graphics work we have to perform, there is a separate charge for that dependent on the complexity of the graphic.

Q. Can you engrave Jewelry?

A. Because our laser is a CO2 laser, it can only etch metal that has been treated with a coating such as paint. As such, we are unable to accommodate requests for most jewelry items. This includes bare metal pendants, watch backs, bracelets and charms

Q. Do you offer same day service?

A. Depending on how busy we are, the scope of your project and when you drop your item off, we may be able to offer same day service, but typically the turnaround is 1-2 business days. If we have other orders in progress, or if your project will require graphics work to be done, we may not be able to offer same day service.

Q. Can you etch photographs?

A. Yes! However, the photo provided must be of high resolution and have good definition lighting.

  • Resolution: It is recommended that the image be a resolution of 300 dpi at the size for which it will be engraved at. Most internet photos have a resolution of 72 dpi which in most cases is not suitable for etching except in certain circumstances.

  • Definition: The subject in the photo to be etched should be well lit, in clear focus and have good contrast definition. Subjects that are poorly lit, silhouetted or blurry will result in etchings that will be poor quality.

  • You are welcome to send us your photo to determine if it will be a good candidate for etching!
